Attending Miami Swim Week this year was much different than it has ever been for me. The change was mostly due to the loss of Mercedes-Benz and IMG. (They’ve sponsored and produced the swimwear extravaganza for the past 10 years!) The bad news? With MB and IMG out, publicists and designers scrambled to put together shows and obtain media coverage. The (really) good news? I got to enjoy the weekend with four of my favorite bloggers at the Sagamore HotelThe Art Hotel invited us to make ourselves at home in their beautiful penthouse for the weekend, and we gladly obliged. (Duh!)

With IMG out, the result was an explosion of Swim Week events happening in locations all over Miami Beach instead of a central venue like The Raleigh, a.k.a. mayhem. Seriously everyone and their abuelitas decided to host a show, party, or presentation. Stand out shows included Frankie's Bikinis and Miami-native Luli Fama, (whose show lasted almost 30 minutes!) Though plagued with disorganization and logistical issues, Mara Hoffman still won the weekend, per usual. The best event award goes to my girl Annie Vazquez for the 3rd annual Escape Miami pool party that included pop-up shops, adult bevs, a fashion show, personalized poems by the Biscayne Poet, and most importantly a place to cool off.

I typically need a full week to recover from the insanity of Swim Week, but this time around the only thing I was recuperating from was missing my awesome roommates and the most epic slumber party. What do you get when you mix five fashion bloggers, one penthouse, add beauty swag and luxe pj’s, ocean views, and champagne? Well, I would have to kill you if I told you.

Thanks for the memories, Sagamore! Let’s do it again soon, yes?
