Bucketfeet Giveaway (Closed)

Enter below to win a unique pair of sneakers from BucketFeet valued at $65 (your choice!) Then tune in on Wednesday, August 1st at 2:30PM ET as I join fellow Miami Fashion Bloggers Ginger, Kristin, and Maria for a LIVE Hangout on Air with BucketFeet co-founder Raaja Nemani, and Brazilian artist Felipe Motta on Google Plus. The hangout will be streamed live right here!

What are BucketFeet?
The unique and comfortable shoes began as a hobby for co-founder and creative director Aaron Firestein, who used to scribble on his canvas sneakers while attending college in 2007. After moving to Argentina to pursue a career in photography, Firestein decided he wanted to "create a platform to connect artists to people around the world," and teamed up with friend & business partner Raaja to launch BucketFeet in 2011.

BucketFeet gives back to artists by purchasing their work, and paying them royalties for every pair of shoes they sell. They also support kids through programs in art, music, and sports. Because Aaron and Raaja met volunteering with kids, it's important for them to stay true to the story of the brand. With every purchase, they donate a percentage of sales to  non-profit partners.

To Dye For

{ZARA Dress & Shoes - AtikShop Clutch - Forever 21 Necklace}

This is exactly how I want to spend the rest of my summer - lounging. (While this may look very glamorous, I assure you that I was sweating up a fierce storm in what felt like 100 degree temps.) My second collaboration with Bella Mente Photography looks like a watercolor painting, and is again set at the gorgeous Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami. The picturesque waterfall and surrounding greenery made me feel like I was vacationing in Italy! (I wish!) The landmark property was actually built to look like a 400-year-old Italian estate, commissioned by American industrialist James Deering in the early 1900's. Today Vizcaya is the go-to for bridal shoots and some of the most exclusive galas - and blogger girls looking to take pretty pictures. A dress this good deserved a great photo, after all.

Wicked Summer

Welcome to my dark side! If the bright, neon, and patterned outfits I constantly post haven't given you a clue, I'm a big fan of color. From electric yellows to bold reds, I'm not one to shy away from making a bold color choice. When you live in paradise the last thing you want to do is mope around in boring black. Save for a sexy black bikini, of course - like this chic high-waisted swimsuit from The Orchid Boutique. (Confession: I will happily spend the rest of my summer in it.) I wanted the photos to evoke major drama, and the historic Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami provided the perfect backdrop. (For the locals: I got confused for a quinciañera during the shoot. HA!) Target to Collaborate with... Neiman Marcus?!

Photo courtesy neimanmarcus.com

It's true! Neiman Marcus announced today that they have teamed up with Target and CFDA for a limited-edition holiday collection to hit stores December 1st. The unexpected collab is bringing together 24 American designers to create 50 exclusive gifts available for purchase at both stores and online. The announcement was received with mixed reviews on the Neiman Marcus Facebook page, where fashion enthusiasts (or just snobs?) expressed their disappointment that the retailer would be "downgrading" by partnering with a mass merchandiser like Target.

Facebooker Judith Blaufuss-Duffy chimed in, "BAD idea for Neiman's....For years they have had a certain status and now they are lowering their brand. Not to sound snobby, but I don't think the average Neiman shopper is a shopper at Target. There is too much disparity in the quality, not to mention the obvious....price."

I, for one, could not be more excited... I'll finally be able to snag something from the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. Wishes do come true! What do you think? Will you shop NM x Target?

Participating designers: Alice + Olivia, Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, Brian Atwood, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Eddie Borgo, Jason Wu, Judith Leiber, Lela Rose, Marchesa, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Philip Crangi, Proenza Schouler, Prabal Gurung, Rag & Bone, Robert Rodriguez, Rodarte, Skaist-Taylor, Thom Browne, Tory Burch, Tracy Reese

UPDATE: Target just released this behind the scenes video with a sneak peek at the incredible things to expect on December 1st!

Window Shopping at Emporium

Last week I had the opportunity to style my first window display at Emporium boutique in Coral Gables. The cozy outpost is one of my favorite places to shop for locally crafted accessories and breezy Miami-wear. (From the KK Arvchives: Best Kept Secret | Emporium). You can check out my "All-American Summer" themed window display through the end of July.

{Ann Taylor blazer (old) - ZARA romper (old) - ZARA cage heels (sold out; similar)}

The easiest way to refresh a tired, old ensemble is with accessories - which is exactly what I did with this Ann Taylor boyfriend blazer (similar) & ZARA romper (similar) that I found hiding in my closet. The white cage heels were a major find (sold out! similar here) at ZARA's semi-annual sale and I couldn't wait to wear them. The neutral palette of this blazer/romper combo played a perfect co-starring role and allowed the shoes to shine. Since no outfit is ever complete without a little bling, I finished off the look with a gold spiked cuff from Forever 21, pyramid stud earrings from Aldo (similar), and a cherry lip for a pop of color.

Perfect outfit for a summer BBQ. The cutout dress is on trend & provides added ventilation!
Amazeballs hair that I clearly couldn't do on my own. Big thanks to the talented LaLa at Blo Midtown.

Happy Birthday America!

Fourth of July always reminds me of my mother... well, because her name is America. (Really!) More importantly, it reminds of the struggles that she and my grandparents endured so that I could grow up in this great land of freedom & opportunity. Had I grown up in Cuba, this blog wouldn't even be a figment of my imagination. So on this Independence Day I celebrate America, my country and my mother, and the freedom to wear what I want, when I want! We're waiting for the fireworks to start on the beach now... hope you had the freedom to enjoy the day off, too!
