Burgundy, bordeaux, maroon, oxblood, black cherry... we may not agree on what to call this deep shade of red, but its universally flattering appeal is undeniable. It's one of my favorite hues to wear this time of year, and pairs perfectly with a wine stained lip, (and a good glass of merlot.)
While summer drags on here in Miami, fashion editors and bloggers have been saturating social media with their best fall #ootd posts from New York Fashion Week featuring the season's it styles. In hopes of catching some cooler weather on my trip to Europe last week, I partnered with Express to style a fall look from their latest collection. When I spotted this major patent leather skirt I knew I wanted to make it the anchor of the outfit. At under $50 (!) it looks just as luxe as the leather skirt Kylie Jenner was spotted wearing at NYFW over the weekend.

Speaking of stylish celebrities, my girl crushes, Olivia Culpo and Olivia Palermo have both rocked chic head-to-toe burgundy looks in the past. Which is your favorite?
My cold shoulder sweater top - also under $50! - is just as sexy as it is cool. For a more demure look, I'd pair it with distressed boyfriend jeans or a wide-leg trouser. Though it is a sweater top, the stretch knit fabric is definitely lightweight enough to wear in warmer climates.
Loud patterns and embellishments aren't the only way to make a bold style statement. A monochromatic look can be just as effective when you pair the right pieces together to create a cohesive look. Take a cue from Olivia C. and Kylie and incorporate contrasting textiles, like leather and velvet, to add dimension and texture. If you want to take a dip in this trend without fully jumping in, camel and blush tones also look great paired together with rich reds.
