For the second night of Funkshion Fashion Week in Miami I attended the Style Mafia Spring/Summer 16 presentation and was excited to see what my friend, and the brand's Creative Director, Simonett Pereira had up her sleeve. Coincidentally, sleeves were a main focus in the collection. From bare shoulders, to accordion pleats and dramatic ruffles, the runway show featured a slew of monochromatic and statement pieces for women craving the ultimate in street style chic. My favorite look featured an oversized blue button-down blouse with a long asymmetric hem. Simo, as friends affectionately know her, has many times referenced post-luxury as a main influence of Style Mafia. This, in part, is the reason the brand has become the darling of fashion bloggers all over the world. Style Mafia offers unique, high-fashion inspired clothing at attainable prices; the majority of which is priced under $100.
While numerous Style Mafia pieces have made their way into my closet, this vegan leather motorcycle vest is one of my favorites. I teamed it with this beautiful lace dress by Vera Wang that I picked up at Macy's Dadeland Mall. (This exact dress is not available anywhere online, but it does come in other color variations. See below.) On it's own the dress is suitable for a cocktail party, or even a casual wedding or prom. But since I was attending a somewhat casual fashion show, I layered the vest over to diffuse the formality of the dress. Pro tip: Wearing a vest or motorcycle jacket is a great way to reinvent a dress that you may have grown tired of. Last but not least, I brought out my crystal rockstuds and added a metallic clutch and bold red lip to finish off my look.
