Sometimes you just have to follow your passion in life, so I was reminded after having lunch with designer Alessia Solari a few weeks ago. Solari, an FSU grad who studied environmental science, was working for the World Meteorological Organization (an agency of the United Nations) when she found herself unhappy, telling her boyfriend that she wanted to design shoes. So she did! She left her job at the UN and returned home to Miami to launch her eponymous sandal collection.
With a Swiss mother and Peruvian father, Alessia is as striking as she is intelligent. Many would describe her as a free spirit, but I say she's a woman that knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to risk it all.
1. Describe your style: I love mixing classic elegance with a hint of gypsy chic. My style is very influenced by my travels abroad. I’m not a fan of all one thing.
2. Your go-to outfit: Currently I've been wearing a lot of long maxi dresses and my sandals. I have them in all different colors since I do all my own product testing!
3. Can't-live-without-it accessory: Statement necklaces
4. Favorite place to shop in Miami: Armoire Chi Chi, it’s a small vintage boutique full of great finds!
5. Heels vs. Flats: Wedges, absolutely!
6. Most memorable fashion faux-pas? During my first trip to Chile my boyfriend invited me to a party to meet all his friends from back home. I wore a fitted dress with a full skirt and my louboutin espadrilles. It was a summer bbq so I thought I looked perfect! His sister took one look at me and laughed, she told me to wear jeans, sneakers and a hoodie. She saved me because I would have looked completely ridiculous! You can never trust men when it comes to how to dress, always ask a girlfriend!

7. Who is your style icon? Audrey Hepburn, Olivia Palermo, Victoria Bekham
8. Biggest splurge? A gorgeous Cavalli dress! I had to work all summer to pay my mom back :) It was so worth it!
9. Favorite designer? Emilio Pucci, there is something magical about his colors and prints. They truly express happiness!

Hidden Health Hazards in Summer Beauty Treatments
Earlier this week I got to hang out with Roxy Vargas for a beauty segment on "NBC 6 In the Mix." (How cute does she look with that baby bump?!)
With the unofficial start to summer behind us, bathing suits are in heavy rotation, and I bet your gym/yoga class/bootcamp has had a lot of new faces checking in lately. More skin means more maintenance, with waxing and pedicures among the most popular treatments. But while you're busy beautifying, do you ever consider the health hazards posed? When jewelry designer Tiffany Ortiz asked if I would model for her new jewelry campaign I was totally flattered, and of course said yes! Besides being transformed into one of her glamorous TAudrey girls, I loved getting to work alongside fellow blogger The Fashion Poet, and college friend (and former beauty queen!) Jaife. Let's just say there was no shortage of laughs on set. Tiffany was one of the very first designers I featured here on the blog back in 2010. My oh my, how we've both grown in three years. Tribal and Tropical at #4SeasonsOfStyle
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of hosting the Style Sessions: No Sweat Summer Style event at the Four Seasons Miami, so here I am finally sharing the photos with you! The stylish Sunday brunch/shopping extravaganza brought out a great group of ladies eager to learn what's hot haute for summer from our panel of experts, including Beauty for Real Founder Leslie Munsell, The Snob Magazine Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Gomez, and Dress for Success Miami Executive Director Sonia Jacobson. Best take away from our chat? Never ever ever everrrr wear flip flops to work. Ever. (Get it?) A few cocktails, shopping, and too many (delectable) calories later we shopped some more and were treated to braids from the pink ladies of Blo Midtown. Fabulosity aside, the afternoon was extra sweet because we raised funds for a cause close to my heart, Dress for Success Miami.

{Beauty Buzz} Miami: Emena Spa Giveaway!
Ever needed a vacation from your vacation? Not that I didn't love every second of my California vacay, but after 10 days on the west coast I have to say it's been a rough week for me. I'm jet lagged. My spray tan has dulled. My hair has been sitting in a top-knot all week. (Can I be more lazy?!) Needless to say, I am counting the minutes until my appointment at Emena Spa this afternoon. A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Neiman Marcus' Fashion Director, Ken Downing, while he was in Miami to style a spring fashion show. (Impeccable style and unbelievably kind!) Of all the trends he presented throughout the show, one in particular stuck out to me. Orange, in every shade, "think safety cone," he declared. This sheer blouse c/o The Orchid Boutique is a must-have, with the added bonus that it doubles as a swimsuit cover-up. The necklace, also from the South Beach swimwear mecca, had to be mine when I saw it. Statement necklaces are my thing. I love how they can transform a simple t-shirt or blouse from casual to ultra chic. Love the look? In the 4th grade I attended my first ever slumber party. We dressed up and danced to the Spice Girls. I, of course, was Posh. Fast forward 16 years and I'm on TV telling everyone this season's hottest trend is "sporty spice." (Local 10 Video) While I think we can credit the Olympics for the recent popularity of athletic-inspired garb, I'll give it to Mel C. Thinking sweatpants? Not cute, unless they look like this.

When it comes to my beauty regimen, skincare is my top priority. I'm always on the hunt for the latest and greatest to keep my baby face looking just that, youthful. (Aren't we all?) Last year I attended my first Derby at Gulfstream Park and couldn't believe how fun, and fashion-forward, the experience was! I mean, what other sporting event practically requires you to look Stepford Wives fabulous? If you've never been to a race at Gulfstream, you need to gather your friends, some betting cash, and your most fabulous hat and make an afternoon of it. Better yet - let them treat you! Lost on Lincoln
A while back I had photographer Emma del Rey join me on Lincoln Road to capture these images... somehow I lost track of them in the ensuing months. I was reminded of them last week when I visited the stretch of shops and restaurants twice; once for shopping (duh), and again on Friday night when I took Eric to a preview of Michael Bay's new action flick Pain & Gain. We're hardly into spring and Miami is already starting to reach it's boiling point, making leisurely strolls like this, well, sweaty. The solution? Breezy & backless, baby.
