Not sure if Santa Claus was ever in doubt, but red is never a bad idea in my book. With just 2 days till Christmas (cue children squeeling!) I put together this festive look for my holiday style segment on Univision's Despierta America this morning. (Watch here.) Red lips were a must! Try my favorite, Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy in #400, to get the look. When I received these beautiful boots from UGG Australia I wasn't sure how/when I would wear them since it's basically still summer in Miami. But with an early morning cool breeze, I slipped them on with lightweight leather-look leggings from Express and went on my way. I later realized I looked like a chic version of Saint Nick's wife.

Full disclosure: I haven't worn a pair of UGGs since high school, and pretty much cringe anytime I see someone down here wearing the "classic" boot with, well anything. The Savoie boot is different, the obvious being the heel. The leather exterior and super soft merino wool lining give this shoe the most luxe feel. The best part? They are convertible and can be worn three different ways - folded over, cuffed, or at the knee. I can't wait to rock these in actual cold weather....with yummy thick knits, beanies and scarves. Maybe Santa will bring me a nice winter vacation... I'm on the good list, after all!

Orange You Glad?

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Neiman Marcus' Fashion Director, Ken Downing, while he was in Miami to style a spring fashion show. (Impeccable style and unbelievably kind!) Of all the trends he presented throughout the show, one in particular stuck out to me. Orange, in every shade, "think safety cone," he declared. This sheer blouse c/o The Orchid Boutique is a must-have, with the added bonus that it doubles as a swimsuit cover-up. The necklace, also from the South Beach swimwear mecca, had to be mine when I saw it. Statement necklaces are my thing. I love how they can transform a simple t-shirt or blouse from casual to ultra chic. Love the look? In the 4th grade I attended my first ever slumber party. We dressed up and danced to the Spice Girls. I, of course, was Posh. Fast forward 16 years and I'm on TV telling everyone this season's hottest trend is "sporty spice." (Local 10 Video) While I think we can credit the Olympics for the recent popularity of athletic-inspired garb, I'll give it to Mel C. Thinking sweatpants? Not cute, unless they look like this. 

Golden Globes Fashion Hits & Misses (CBS Miami)

Argo, Les Mis, and Girls (my fave!) won big at last night's Golden Globes, but today was all about fashion accolades. I joined CBS Miami's Lisa Petrillo and Neiman Marcus' Katharine Rubino to dish on our favorite, and not so favorite, looks from the red carpet. While there were no major standouts or train wrecks to discuss (Jodie Foster's speech aside) my best dressed actress made me want to run to the spray tan booth and break out my MAC m'orange lipstick. The Christmas tree at the Village of Merrick Park is up, which makes it perfectly okay for me (and you!) to wear leather in 70 degree weather. GigaSavvy offered me the opportunity to style my choice of coats from Macy's and this INC quilted moto jacket just had to get in my closet. No one would ever guess this stylish little jacket isn't real leather; it looks and feels infinitely more expensive than its $100 price tag. The diamond quilting adds a glam finish and reminds me of my favorite handbag (Chanel, obvi.) I was clearly feeling the biker chic look on this day while at the mall to have my makeup done for the I Have a Dream Foundation gala. So to lighten things up I broke out my latest fab find, a Rebecca Minkoff Studded Affair Bag which I snagged at my new favorite store Second Time Around Miami Beach. (STA is a consignment store, but I found this baby with tags on!) Stop by this little treasure trove at 1630 Jefferson Avenue (right off Lincoln Road) for your holiday or Basel shopping and tell Meghan I sent you. You can expect to find everything from ZARA to Chanel for cheap cheap. It'll be our little secret...

Spotted in the Gables

Last week I teamed up with Miami photog Danny Delgado to shoot a special project at Coral Gables boutique My Bestfriend's Closet. Owner Patty Flores designed the store to look like the walk-in closet of my dreams, (and probably yours, too!) and I got to ham it up among the racks of beautiful fashions a la Confessions of a Shopaholic. Post shoot, Danny & I took a stroll down the Mile to capture a new favorite outfit. While Miami weather would lead you to believe otherwise, fall has arrived and I'm pretty excited to start wearing more leather & printed tights. Now all I need is a cool breeze!

Best thing about this outfit? Head-to-toe under $100.

Fall Into Floral

While today officially marks the last day of summer, it doesn't mean you have to say goodbye to your favorite summer trends. Floral prints have popped up everywhere from blazers to skinny pants (like these super affordable ones from Prim&Proper,) and can easily transition into fall by pairing with dark hues & rich textures. I took this look from summer to fall by swapping my white and cream accessories for dark denim and brown leather, topped off with a burgundy felt hat.

Microsoft Aims For Style in Miami

Computers are not just for nerds! Ask any fashion blogger and they'll tell you that their tech gadgets are just as important to them as they are to any finance analyst, editor, or web designer. With computers and smartphones becoming a permanent accessory, it's no wonder that tech giants like Apple and Microsoft have realized that their products have to be more than just powerful - they need to be stylish, too.

Last weekend Microsoft invited a select group of influencers to preview their latest products and I was lucky enough to make the guest list! Along with editors from glossies like Glamour, Lucky, Complex, The Source, and Latin Cosmopolitan, we spent two days learning and playing with the latest Windows phones and laptops- all while enjoying unique experiences that only my hometown has to offer.

The weekend kicked off with product demos at The Shore Club. The gorgeous 3-story penthouse was decked out with cool new Microsoft products, like these Limited Edition Artist Series Mice.

Holiday in Siesta Key

Sun, Sand, and Resort Wear is what filled my Memorial Day weekend! The unofficial start to summer landed me in the hidden paradise known as Siesta Key. Hidden to me anyway - it was my first time visiting the oceanfront locale on Florida's west coast, but definitely not my last. The charming beach town offered up delicious eats, friendly locals, and powdery white sand that was silky to the touch. Just days before my getaway I came across this amazing fringe cotton skirt at South Dade consignment shop The Recycled Closet. When I picked it up and read ALEXIS on the label I knew I had a gem on my hands. The skirt was the inspiration for my tropical themed weekend in beach bliss....

This 2nd outfit is one of my new favorites! Nothing like neon pink & orange to offset a fresh glowing tan. I picked up this hot top at the newly refurbished ZARA in Dadeland mall (aka heaven!) It has all of the elements to make it a summer must-have: tropical flowers, flourescent colors, and golden studs. Let's just say I couldn't resist it. I dug up the neon skirt from the depths of my closet, and just like that, what's old is new again. I finished off the look with my leopard jeweled sandals from Miss Trish (also worn here.) Leopard is a neutral in my book- goes with almost anything!

Fashion Star Designers Host Viewing Party in Miami

On Tuesday Daily Candy & Suave Beauty teamed up to host a posh Style Suite and viewing party of NBC's Fashion Star at Miami's Viceroy Hotel. Four of the show's remaining designers were on hand to greet fans and dish behind the scenes secrets, including Orly Shani, Ronnie Escalante, Nzimiro Oputa, and Miami native Luciana Scarabello.


While I'm not a devoted Fashion Star viewer, I do catch the show occasionally and was excited to meet two of my favorites, Orly & Luciana. I was attending the GUESS 30th anniversary party in South Beach (more on that later) during the first half of the evening so I missed out on the mini makeovers by Suave. I arrived just in time to catch the show at 10pm and was treated with fresh baked cookies by the Club 50 staff, and a sweet goodie bag of Suave styling products that I can't wait to try. 
Orly is as funny as she is beautiful. There's a cool, confident vibe about her that draws you in. She was dressed in one of her own designs, a fun cobalt blue dress with zippered back that she sold to H&M in a past FS episode. Everyone in the room was clearly disappointed when her motorcycle dress/vest wasn't purchased (me included!)
Local girl Luciana had quite the fan club in attendance, with the room erupting in cheers whenever she appeared on screen. I couldn't help but join in the applause for her super sexy design this week, which was ultimately purchased by Saks. The Argentinian designer is a pint-sized beauty, making me feel like I was towering over her-- and that doesn't happen. She was also wearing her own design, a gorgeous floral frock from the show that I'm sad I missed out on.

Miami Marlins Get PINK'D by Victoria's Secret

Victoria's Secret has been showing Miami a lot of love this Spring! (Remember: VS Very Sexy Tour and Pink Spring Break Party.) This time around the very sexy brand's hot little sister, VS PINK, teamed up with Major League Baseball for a collection of fun sportswear for us girlfriends. Super sweet VS model Elsa Hosk joined Miami Marlins baseballer Logan Morrison at Miami's Dolphin Mall to debut the hometown edition of the sporty fashion collab.

I didn't know what to expect when I met Logan, but I was prepared for anything. (The twitter-lebrity is rumored to be a huge flirt!) I'm happy to report that LoMo, as his fans call him, was on his best behavior, and even complimented my ring. I chatted up the 24-year-old and got the scoop on his love affair with twitter, the new Marlins uniform, and exercises to make your booty pop. 

Kelly Saks: Why do you like twitter so much?

Logan Morrison: I like the fact that you can interact with fans on it, people that I would never talk to. I can talk to them, make fun of them, flirt with them.

KS: What's your take on the new Marlins logo?

LM: Did you know that we're the number one selling merchandise in MLB? So that's pretty cool.

KS: There was a lot of controversy about the new logo when it came out, but I guess people are liking it?

LM: Change is always rejected, then it's accepted, right? That's what I did. I didn't know if I liked it and then I put it on and thought, hey, it's pretty cool.

KS: Elsa and I were talking before you got here, and we were wondering why it is that baseball players all have really nice butts? (Laughing.) What is your secret exercise?

LM: Ha! Well, I think I'm an exception to that because I have no booty. I went to Vegas, came back, and I lost it somewhere in between. I don't know what exercise, I don't do anything... Just do lunges, glutes, monster walks. I dunno, I just have a really long back!

KS: How are you liking your new home (Marlins Stadium)?

LM: I love it! It's an awesome stadium. Air conditioning is the best part, that's for sure.

This was my second time meeting Elsa and I must say the Swedish model is a total sweetheart! We bonded over our mutual admiration for baseball players' behinds (see above) and the 305. While Miami is known for some of the worst drivers in the nation, Elsa says she's learned how to get around since she works here so often. No word on if she's made it out to Hialeah yet. ;)
